The programme provides students with an opportunity to study for an award explicitly focused on future employability and career progression.
The programme provides a strong focus on skills for the workplace, that is, on the development of a valuable transferable skill set that is relevant to all workplaces.
Employability skills include business and customer awareness, problem solving, communication, research skills, application of information technology and embracing a positive attitude to learning. These skills are embedded within the programmes and are transferable, enabling students to progress to a range of career paths both while on the course or after graduating.

Course Overview
This course provides upskilling opportunities and a workplace-focused learning experience that ensures each student is given the opportunity to fulfil their potential and in turn transform the communities in which they live and work.
Due to the flexible and broad nature of the programme, graduates will be equipped to enter a range of industries and sectors including not for profit, public and private sectors.
The programme has been designed based on the requirements of industry and embeds the required employability skills for successful careers with key competencies discussed and developed throughout the course.
Learner-centred learning strategies are employed throughout the programme to ensure a balance of theory and practice that is both personalised and collaborative. Learners will gain transferable skills that use technology for learning as well as academic, professional and literacy skills involved in study at this level.
Upon successful completion of this course, students can progress to the BA Developing Leadership and Management following a successful interview.

Year One – Level 4 (Cert HE)
- Contemporary Challenges: Making a Difference (20 credits; compulsory; Graduate Attributes Framework module)
- Digital Skills for Personal Development and Business Growth (20 credits; compulsory)
- Effective Teamworking and Communication (20 credits; compulsory)
- Learning in the Digital Era (20 credits; compulsory; Graduate Attributes Framework module)
- Managing Enterprise (20 credits; compulsory)
- Professional Career Development (20 credits; compulsory).
Career and Progression
Links with a variety of organisations within the third, public and private sector and regular guest speakers and mentoring opportunities are incorporated into both the CertHE and BA programmes to highlight the range of jobs and careers routes open to the students.
Participation in the ‘Global Entrepreneurship Week Events’ and the ‘Summer Start Up Festival”, plus attendance and links with Big Ideas Wales Role Model sessions enable students to speak with and learn from successful entrepreneurs.
